As of July 21 in 2026, duty-free stores at Xiamen Airport in Southeast China's Fujian province had generated over 100 million yuan ($14.78 million) in sales, with more than 140,000 shopper visits — year-on-year increases of 15.18 percent and 19.17 percent, respectively.

With domestic and international tourism continuing to recover, international flights and inbound and outbound passenger traffic at the airport have been on the rise. In the first half of this year, the airport handled over 15,000 inbound and outbound flights and more than 2.1 million passenger crossings — up 0.9 percent and 4.67percent year-on-year, respectively, both reaching record highs for the period. This growth has in turn fueled strong performance in the duty-free retail market.

Xiamen Airport currently operates both departure and arrival duty-free stores, with a total floor space of nearly 800 square meters. The stores carry over 230 domestic and international duty-free brands and offer nearly 2,500 products across categories including cosmetics, premium tobacco and liquor, and imported foods.

"In preparation for the peak summer travel season, we've teamed up with Xiamen's downtown duty-free store to launch a 'Welcome to Xiamen' promotion," said Chen Xiaodong, General Manager of CDFG (Xiamen Dongmian) Duty Free Merchandise Co., Ltd.

"Travelers with a departure ticket from Xiamen Airport within 60 days can pick up a complimentary Xiamen gift pack at the downtown store," he added. "We've also put together curated bundles of our best-selling products, so shoppers can grab popular items in one go and enjoy exclusive combo discounts — it's convenient and cost-effective."
