The 2026 City Convenience Store Development Index was released on Aug 26, with Xiamen topping the national rankings at 92.8 points.

According to 2026 monitoring data from the China Chain Store & Franchise Association, Xiamen stands out among 40 sample cities in four key metrics: store density, the share of 24-hour outlets, network growth rate, and its business environment rating.

The city has steadily advanced innovation, with its markets featuring a clear competitive landscape and major chains such as Fook, 10 Store Plus, 7-Eleven, and Meiyijia operating across the city. 

Business models have also diversified: what were once simple retail outlets have evolved into community service hubs that offer both convenience and social interaction, providing one-stop solutions for daily needs and community engagement.

Xiamen is recognized as one of the first national demonstration cities for supply chain innovation and application, supported by a well-developed modern system. In addition, the city continues to enhance its business environment, providing targeted support to sustain the healthy growth of its convenience store industry.

It has also fostered local chains expanding beyond the city and province. Fujian Luyinhai, the national pilot for campus store service standards, now operates in Henan and Jiangxi. This year, it has opened over a dozen new campus outlets at universities including Putian University, Sanming University, and Shenzhen University.
